HALO skydive stands for High Altitude, Low Opening. In the sport of skydiving, it describes a jump where one jumps from a very high altitude and opens the parachute later during freefall.
In principle, many civilian skydives can be referred to as HALO jumps, as most jumps are made from high altitude with the parachute opened relatively late in the fall.
When we at Dropzone Denmark talk about a HALO skydive, we mean something quite special: Europe's highest skydive from 7.6 kilometres (25,000 feet).
A HALO jump from 7.6 km is a high altitude skydive, where you experience a significantly longer freefall than with a normal tandem or sports jump.
At this altitude, the air pressure and oxygen levels are significantly lower than with regular skydives. Therefore, a HALO jump requires special equipment and careful planning to ensure a safe and secure experience.
During a HALO skydive, both jumpers and instructors use a specially developed oxygen system, which ensures the supply of oxygen during ascent and freefall.
The system we use at Dropzone Denmark is developed and operated by the HALO2Skydive team, who are specialists in high altitude skydiving and HALO jumps in Europe.
This makes it possible to carry out Europe's highest tandem skydive and provide participants with a completely unique experience high above Denmark.
To participate in a solo HALO skydive from 25,000 ft. at Dropzone Denmark, there are a set of requirements that must be fulfilled on the day of the HALO event. These requirements are in place to ensure the safety of not only yourself, but your fellow skydivers. You therefore must have obtained a USPA-C license or similar.
The requirements include that you have:
If you are a wingsuiter, and you meet all the requirements, you are more than welcome to participate in a HALO skydive.
If you are unsure that you meet the requirements, you are always welcome to contact us and our team will assist you.
Experience this extreme activity with one of our experienced instructors. The requirements for participating in a HALO tandem skydive are the same as for a "normal" tandem skydive, but you should be aware that HALO jumps place additional demands on your body. So if you have any concerns about your health, you are always welcome to contact our team.

Due to the many resources required to conduct a HALO jump, we host a HALO boogie once a year here at Dropzone Denmark. In the skydiving community, a boogie refers to a special event where activities are planned over several days. Participants often have the opportunity to jump with an experienced organizer.
At our HALO boogie, we offer the chance to complete HALO skydives over 4-5 days and the opportunity to take a HALO course, either as an operator or instructor. However, there are no organized jumps.
In 2026, our HALO boogie will take place from the 20.-24. of May and 19.-23. of August
Safety is always our absolute top priority. When it comes to HALO jumps, we take extra safety measures to ensure that everything goes as smoothly and safely as possible.
At Dropzone Denmark, we are proud of our collaboration with HALO2 Skydiving, which brings a new dimension to skydiving with their exceptional expertise and innovative oxygen systems. Guided by the renowned skydiver Paul-Henry de Baère (PH), you will experience not only an adrenaline rush but also a professional and secure atmosphere. PH has assembled a team of experienced HALO experts who come to Dropzone Denmark to facilitate and oversee these HALO jumps, guaranteeing an extremely professional experience.
Each participant is thoroughly prepared before the jump through detailed briefings, and all equipment is reviewed by at least two HALO experts after you have put it on, before you board our aircraft. This ensures that you can feel completely secure throughout the entire experience.
Furthermore, our equipment and that of HALO2 Skydive are of the absolute highest quality and consistently undergo rigorous tests to ensure that everything is in perfect condition.

The price of a HALO skydive depends on whether you jump solo or choose a tandem HALO skydive with an instructor.
Solo HALO skydive: 3,350 DKK.
Tandem HALO skydive: 14,995 DKK.
In a tandem HALO skydive, you are securely strapped to an experienced instructor who controls the entire jump from exit to landing.
A HALO skydive at Dropzone Denmark takes place from 7.6 kilometres (25,000 feet), making it Europe's highest skydive. In comparison, most regular skydives occur from around 2–4.5 kilometres.
During a HALO tandem skydive from 7.6 km, freefall lasts up to 120 seconds! This provides a significantly longer freefall than a standard tandem skydive.
When it comes to HALO solo jumps, the time is a bit different. During previous HALO boogies at Dropzone Denmark, our sport jumpers have recorded freefall times of up to 5 minutes (wingsuit).
Yes. When high altitude skydiving from 7.6 km, the oxygen level in the atmosphere is lower than during normal skydives. Therefore, both jumpers and instructors use a specially developed oxygen system from HALO2Skydive, which ensures adequate oxygen supply during ascent and the jump itself.
Yes, most people can participate in a HALO tandem skydive as long as they meet the general requirements for tandem skydiving, including a weight limit of 100kg and health conditions.
If you have any specific physical conditions or questions, we always recommend contacting us in advance.
HALO skydiving at Dropzone Denmark takes place in Denmark from Herning Airport, where our team operates special equipment for high altitude skydiving and conducts some of the highest parachute jumps in Europe.
We recommend that you set aside the whole weekend for your first solo skydiving course. The theory course itself usually takes around 5 hours including breaks. During the course, there is an opportunity to purchase dinner in our café at reasonable prices.
The jump typically takes place, weather permitting, the day after the theory course. You should arrive at 08:00 where you will receive the last theory session, which takes about an hour. When it’s time for your jump, you will be suited up and taken up in the aircraft with your instructors at the earliest opportunity.
Please be aware that there must be extraordinarily good weather conditions to jump safely as a student. So you should always expect waiting time as an AFF student.
If you do not manage to make the jump in the first weekend after the theory course, you are welcome to come on any day we are open to perform your jump. No registration is required, but it is a good idea to keep up with our Facebook group, where we regularly update about the weather conditions for jumping.
Here you can even leave a comment on these posts about your intention to come on the specified day and make an AFF level 1 skydive. This way, we can inform you further about timings and other details. It is a good rule to arrive when we open, as this gives you the best chance of getting a jump that day.
Always set aside the whole day for a student skydive.
To participate in a solo HALO skydive, you must hold a skydiving license equivalent to a USPA C-License or higher. This ensures that you have the experience and canopy control necessary to safely perform a high altitude skydive from 25,000 ft (7.6 km).
At a minimum, the following requirements must be met:
We accept licenses from all national skydiving federations, as long as the experience level is comparable to a USPA C-License.
Skydivers flying wingsuits are also welcome to participate in a solo HALO skydive, provided they meet the same experience requirements.
Because HALO skydives take place at extremely high altitudes, additional safety procedures and equipment – including oxygen systems – are required. Our team will provide a full briefing before the jump.
Yes. Beginners can experience a HALO tandem skydive, where you are securely attached to a professional instructor who manages the entire jump from exit to landing.
There are multiple international airports in Denmark, the largest one being in Copenhagen. From there to the dropzone there is about a 3-4 hour drive. Here are some of the international airports closest to our dropzone in Herning:
Billund: Approximately 45m in car
Aarhus: Approximately 1h 25m in car
Aalborg: Approximately 1h 45m in car
We unfortunately do not offer indoor accommodation at the dropzone.
However, you are very welcome to stay on-site during the HALO Boogie by bringing your own tent, campervan, or caravan. We have a designated area where participants can park and stay free of charge for the duration of the event.
If you require access to electricity, it is available for a small fee per unit during your stay.
If you need recommendations for nearby hotels or other accommodation in Herning, try OrgaNicer.
To participate in a solo HALO skydive, you must be a licensed skydiver, which means you must be at least 16 years old to obtain a skydiving license.
For a HALO tandem skydive, there is no strict official age limit. However, due to the extreme altitude and intensity of the experience, we generally do not recommend HALO jumps for participants younger than around 16–18 years old.
For younger participants or first-time skydivers, we may recommend starting with a regular tandem skydive from a lower altitude. A HALO skydive is a very intense experience, and it is important that participants feel comfortable with the altitude, equipment, and overall experience.
Ultimately, it comes down to personal maturity, comfort level, and the instructor’s safety assessment on the day of the jump.
If the HALO skydive is cancelled due to weather conditions, you will receive a full refund or have the option to reschedule your jump for another available date.
If you wish to cancel your booking yourself, we kindly ask that you notify us as soon as possible and before your scheduled jump date. In that case, a full refund can be issued.
Because HALO skydives depend heavily on weather conditions and flight planning, we always recommend staying flexible with your schedule when booking this type of jump.
Yes. In addition to the HALO lifts, we will also be running regular altitude lifts throughout the event.
This means there will be plenty of opportunities to jump from 6,000 ft and 15,000 ft between the HALO loads, so both HALO participants and regular fun jumpers will have good chances to get into the air during the event.
HALO skydives require specific weather conditions:
Final weather decisions are normally made three days before the jump (D-3).
Temperatures at HALO altitude can reach -40°C, so proper layering is important.
Recommended setup:
If you are doing a tandem HALO skydive, the only thing you need to focus on is the thermal base layer and practical shoes, the rest is included in the price of your skydive.
The dropzone provides third-party liability insurance for the event. However, all participants must have their own personal health or accident insurance that covers skydiving in Denmark.
It is your responsibility to ensure that your insurance policy includes skydiving activities and high-altitude jumps before participating in the HALO skydive.
Yes. Our on-site café offers simple breakfast, lunch and dinner during the event.
You can se the menus here:
SMALL MENU - always available.
BIG MENU - available during weekends and when we have kitchen staff.
Participants are also welcome to bring their own food, but there is no communal kitchen available.
