Finally again: a danish woman as a tandeminstructor in Denmark

After several years of hiatus, there is now a remarkable piece of news filling the air in Denmark: a Danish female tandem instructor is back in the air, ready to share her passion for skydiving with new adventure-seekers.

Ida Richter Trangbæk was certified as a USPA tandem instructor at Dropzone Denmark in April — making her the only active female tandem instructor in Denmark, and only the fourth woman in the country’s history to achieve this title. Not only a significant milestone for her, but also for the entire Danish skydiving community!

Inspirational woman in skydiving

Who is Ida Richter Trangbæk?

- Passionate skydiver

- Employee at Dropzone Denmark

- Rigger Loftet employee

- Knitting master and enthusiast

- A calm and reassuring woman

Ida began her journey in skydiving in 2021 and has since been an energetic and inspiring force in the sport. Her entry into the sport started with a fascination for the unique feeling of freedom that comes with jumping into the unknown.

Those who know her at the drop zone in Herning are aware that Ida has held several roles here at Dropzone Denmark. When the skydiving season is in full swing, she has held titles such as chief packer, camera flyer, and coach. At the start of the 2025 season, she was given the title of video manager, and she has now also added "tandem instructor" to her list.

She is often found at the drop zone, where, when the weather is good, you can spot her under the parachute in the blue sky. When the weather isn't ideal for skydiving, you might find her in a cozy spot with her knitting needles in hand.

Skydiving: A sport for everyone

The skydiving sport is known for its unique combination of excitement, freedom, and community. It is a sport that welcomes everyone—regardless of age, background, or experience. It includes both beginners taking their first jump and experienced skydivers seeking new challenges. No matter your skill level, you can experience the unforgettable feeling of floating freely through the air and becoming part of a warm and inclusive community.

Diversity is an important aspect of skydiving. Although skydiving has traditionally been a male-dominated sport, people from different backgrounds bring diverse perspectives and contributions to the community. It is this multicultural and welcoming atmosphere that makes skydiving one of the best communities in the world.

Ida's new certification, making her the fourth female tandem instructor in Denmark, is a milestone in Danish skydiving history and sends a strong message that the sport has room for everyone. Her story demonstrates that courage, passion, and determination can open new opportunities—for those who wish to explore the exciting world of skydiving and become part of the community.

We hope that Ida's story can inspire more people to take the first steps into the sport.

Kristín Anný Walsh
Marketing, sales and event manager

Kristín Anný Walsh is not an experienced skydiver as she has only done one tandem jump. However, she was hired at Dropzone Denmark in 2024 to improve and streamline communication on various platforms, as well as the company's marketing and sales efforts, and keep track of the many different annual events.

She brings a unique perspective to the management team as she brings with her the experience of being new to the sport.
